Inq v1.0.1 Released
This latest version has an important bug fix affecting program usability.
If you've been having problems with Inq, why not check the release notes
and then download the new version.
Overview
Inq is a character creator for the
Games Workshop game Inquisitor.
Its purpose is to make the quick creation of characters for games of
Inquisitor as quick and painless as possible. Inq also incorporates several
features which make it a viable tool to use throughout characters' lifetimes.
As the characters evolve, you can update them within Inq, each time printing
a fresh new character sheet for use in-game.
Features
Inq has a number of features which make it stand out next to other game
character sheet software:
Printing
- What You See Is What You Get. It really does print out exactly what you
see on the screen.
- Blank character sheets. You can hide all character-specific text to print
out character sheets you can fill in yourself.
- Any paper size supported. Inq will scale the character sheet to fit on
whatever paper size you want to use. Fed up of foreign software which only
prints out on "Letter" size paper? Want to print out an A5 miniature character
sheet? Inq is for you.
Usability
- New Character Wizard. The wizard will guide you through creating a new
character from scratch.
- In-place editing. Your characters profile and selected other details can
be edited "in-place" on the character sheet.
Character Creation
- Character class. Inq knows about all the standard character classes
defined in the Inquisitor rulebook, including their profile and
starting equipment.
- Profile. Inq can roll up your profile for you, give you the average
for that character class, or let you enter your own values without
restriction.
- Equipment. You can pick and choose from virtually the entire range
of equipment available to Inquisitor characters.
Smart Equipment
Much of the equipment available to your characters is Smart Equipment.
Inq understands not only what each item is and what it costs, but
what it does. The effects of each item appear on the character sheet
when you purchase it. For example:
- Armour. The cumulative armour values of armour, shields and force
fields appears on the body diagram on your character sheet. You tell
Inq which locations armour applies to, and it does the rest.
- Special weapons. Some weapons have special properties, eg. ranged
weapons being able to be used as other weapons in hand to hand combat.
These are taken into account and such information appears in the
weapon and equipment lists.
- Tallies. Items such as grenades which are "one shot" are printed
with a tally next to them so you can cross them off once they have
been used.
Other Features
- Intelligent scaling. Created a character who just has to have 15
different ranged weapons? Or 8 different types of grenade? Inq will
automatically scale certain regions of the character sheet so that
all equipment will still appear on one page. And nothing disappears
off the bottom of the page!
